Oklahoma City Civic Center Hall to host “A Canterbury Christmas ” (The Oklahoman)
Canterbury Choral Society music director Randi Von Ellefson says he tends to associate the Christmas season with glorias and alleluias. Resolved Question: How should I confront my friend about this?
Ok, well there is this girl who is VERY obsessed with a band. She is so obsessed that you can’t carry on a normal conversation with her without them coming up. She will follow them to every meet and greet, and every concert and what not. It wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t brag about it. Like last week she kept texting me in the middle of the night telling me she was excited that she gets to leave school at like 11:40 to go to a concert in Oklahoma. I was trying to sleep so I had to turn my phone off. My mom said I have to be nice to her since her parents are divorcing. We are both 16 if that helps. How do I confront her about this?

She was doing this before they were even thinking about getting a divorce. First it was the Jonas Brothers, now its another one.

Open Question: Career advice. Should I do what I love or what will help me make bank?
I’m currently 18 and on the cusp of deciding what I’d like to do for the rest of my un-retired life. I’d really like a stable career, but none really interest me. I’ve always wanted to be a filmmaker, since childhood, but have long given up that dream (or at least, faced the realities about said dream.) It’s a fickle industry, especially where I am from, and doesn’t seem likely to give me a secure, comfortable monthly income unless I go to work for some network, etc. And film schools are freaking EXPENSIVE. Being 18, I have literally no money or means to afford such a school. (No college fund either.)

On the other hand, there’s a job that I seem capable of. Air Traffic Controlling. My father worked for the FAA for nearly 35 years and it always provided us with a modest living. He now teaches it at a university in Oklahoma City. I must admit that I’m not exactly very interested in this sort of work, but it’s a job and not everyone has the luxury of absolutely enjoying their chosen career paths.

So here’s the conundrum. Do I try my hand at some expensive film or other creative arts school and try to work my way into film or television production (something that I know from secondhand experience isn’t that easy or reliable to do) or do I try for a local college I can afford and eventually school with my father to learn air traffic controlling, a career I wouldn’t necessarily mind, and have a steady, dependable income that I can use to support myself and my hobbies in filmmaking and music?

I’ve racked my mind about this over and over again. I’ve considered nearly every career I know of, and it always seems to come back down to these two.

What should I do? Or, rather, what would YOU do?

Thanks in advance.

Resolved Question: Can I attend air traffic controller training school in Oklahoma City even if I major in something unrelated?
I am close to getting a bachelor’s degree in music performance, but really want to go into air traffic control, through the training school in Oklahoma. Would my chances of getting into the school be better with the bachelor’s in music? I do not want to pursue music as a career, but would having this degree help my chances of getting into the Oklahoma school, or should I just make the career switch now and apply without completing my bachelor’s? I’ve also considered the military, but would prefer just the school.

Resolved Question: Did you Know White Terror Racist Terrorist Groups in the Heart of the USA?
The Bush men decorate our holidays in Homeland Security yellow, orange
and red, while demonizing Islamic green as the color of the most
implacable foes of Western “civilization.” Yet official silence
conspires to hide genocidal maniacs in our midst who have sworn to erase
the Black presence from the landscape of the United States: White
Terror.

Tens of thousands of members of a racist legion operate openly in every
corner of the nation – men, women, juveniles, extended families,
cells, gangs, churches, clans, militias, border armies, all engaged in
what they consider to be a war to the death against non-white America.

George Bush and John Ashcroft don’t want you to hear about White Terror,
understandably fearing that the lyrics of white supremacy strike the
same racial chords as the Pirates’ own War on Terror theme, itself a
rearrangement of the many martial tunes written throughout American
history in praise Manifest Destiny. Less than a decade ago Timothy
McVeigh’s band of terrorists got carried away with the logic of America
as a White Man’s Country, and may have cost the Republicans the White
House in 1996. That’s why the homeland security colors didn’t change in
May of this year, when federal agents arrested a white racist couple
dealing in weapons of mass destruction in a small town near Tyler,
Texas. The feds seized a cyanide bomb capable of unleashing a deadly,
poison cloud, chemicals and components for additional WMDs, gas masks,
100 conventional bombs, an arsenal of automatic weapons, silencers and
half a million rounds of ammunition.

The bust went unreported last Spring, although George Bush was said to
have been regularly briefed about the “ongoing” investigation. Finally,
the Dallas-Fort Worth CBS affiliate broke the story on November 26, when
longtime militiaman and traveling gun merchant William J. Krar and his
common-law wife pled guilty to possession of a chemical bomb and lesser
charges. Local Channel 11 news producer Todd Bensman thought he had a
huge national story on his hands, but CBS network refused to pick up his
report. “I guess they didn’t think it was important enough,” Bensman
told David Neiwert, a Seattle-based journalist who has covered
right-wing terrorism since 1978. In fact, the national news blackout was
near-total, as reported online by The Memory Hole.

The only media that saw fit to report about this terrorist plot within
the US were a few newspapers and TV stations in Texas. The Web-based
news outlet WorldNetDaily ran a story about it, but Google News shows
that there hasn’t been a word in the New York Times, Washington Post, LA
Times, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, or any other big media outlet. Why have the
media decided that this is a non-story? It’s hard to say, but we can say
with certainty that if Muslims had been caught with these weapons of
mass destruction, fake I.D., gas masks, and books on making explosives,
it would’ve been front-page news for days.

A huge array of weapons, ammunition, bomb-making equipment, and racist
literature were discovered in the Tyler arrest.

The New York Times got around to the story on December 13, not on the
news pages, but through a back door Op-Ed article titled “Enemies at
Home.” Daniel Levitas’ piece passed the Times’ blandness test.
“Americans should question whether the Justice Department is making
America’s far-right fanatics a serious priority,” Levitas wrote. “And
with the F.B.I. still struggling to get up to speed on the threat posed
by Islamic extremists abroad, it is questionable whether the agency has
the manpower to keep tabs on our distinctly American terror cells. There
is no accurate way of analyzing the budgets of the F.B.I., Justice
Department and Department of Homeland Security to discern how much
attention is being devoted to right-wing extremists. But in light of the
F.B.I.’s poor record in keeping tabs on the militia movement before the
1995 Oklahoma City bombing, one wonders whether the agency has the will

Resolved Question: Should I stay or should I go?
Well I am 19 years old and my boyfriend is 26. I met him online and he’s a great guy. I’m really truly in love with him and he is with me. He lives in Oklahoma and I live in Maryland …Yea far far away. We talk on the phone, video chat and IM each other everyday from the day that we have met. In the beginning we both agreed not to let our parents know (because he is white and I’m black and but of our sides of the family are a bit racist) He also lives with his grandparents….I know. Well I ended up telling mine because I care about him and he wasn’t like any other guy I dated I wanted my parents to know how happy I was. My parents are now more ok about they have even talked to him a couple of times. But he refuses to tell his grandparents but his mother knows and I have talked to her and her husband a few times. I just don’t understand what the big deal is. He says that he has never told them anything about any other girl he has dated. But I’m like hun you’re 26 years old they will get over it. Also if I’m so special why is he treating me as if I’m just another girl. He claims he wants to marry me. His mother gave him the wedding band that has been past down from her grandmother. He said its for me. But on the other hand says that we would have to wait for his grandparents to die before we can get married. I cried when I heard this. I’m not sure if its worth it anymore. He doesn’t have a job either. I offered to help him find one and to have my mom make him a resume but he said he will have her do that in like 5 years……Yea I was like wtf too. I don’t understand him. I told him what he needs to do before I would even consider marrying him. But he has yet to do or try to do one thing. I just want him to have a few simple things that any adult would need to have to survive: a bank account, a job, finish a GED program (yea his grandparents let him drop out of high school), and at least try to take some college courses. I don’t think that’s to much to ask. I have all those and I’m only 19. ok so am I wasting my time? Reading this back I realize I’m in love with a loser. I try so hard to make it work but I don’t know what else to do.

Resolved Question: What are my chances of becoming emancipated?
I live in Oklahoma. I hate my mom and she also hates me. All we ever do is fight about everything. I’m an atheist and she punishes me and humiliates me because of my beliefs. The only talent I have is musical ability. I play in a ska-punk band when I’m not grounded…..which is never anymore. My mom is probably bipolar. She is selfish, hateful, and has a complete disregard for my feelings. She also lets a particular person(my ex-stepfather) come around her house and verbally abuse me all of the time. He used to abuse me as a young child and was friends with the cops in the town I lived in and the cops would look right at my bruised up black and blue face and lie, saying they didn’t see anything. My mom knows lots of people at the court and they also always believe her over me. Everytime I argue or get in trouble now, she calls the cops or sends me to a youth shelter for being disobedient.
Now that you know all of that, I am considering emancipation. I am currently attending a boot school and will probably graduate this year if I stay for the remainder of the year. This is because you work at your own pace at the boot school. I am also trying to get a job. I have a friend that has a 2 bedroom apartment and has offered to let me live with her and pay for some things. My mom says that she will support the emancipation once I have everything that I need for the process.
What are my chances….oh yeah, and btw, I’m 16 until summer.
I now have a job…..if that makes any difference….So I guess I can probably do it, since my mom supports, right?
